We went on to Le Garangeoire near Saint-Julien-des-Landes in the Vendee region. We stayed in a very big site which was thankfully very quiet at this time of year. There were lots of cycle paths along the Atlantic coast. The weather was great. Here is Ian coming back with the croissants and baguettes for breakfast!!
The beaches on the coast were amazing- very big and sandy but the sea was very cold. Harry loved it. She came out with us in her bike trailer.
As you can see the weather was good. We had all our meals outside. The wine was also very good!!
The beaches were very quiet and beautiful. This is us stopping on our bike ride to have our lunch at Bretignolles-sur-mer.
21.05.08 The gardens around here are fantastic. Everybody has a vegetable plot and the plants are well ahead of Britain.

And now to France
We left Britain on 13th May. First stop was Le Chateau du Martragny, a beautiful chateau near Bayeux in Normandy. We visited the Bayeux tapestry which was very interesting. We had a ride in a little train around Baueux. Harry loved the train. We had some amazing hail and rain storms.

We went to Port-en=Bessin, one of the huge Normandy beaches that were used for the D-Day landings in June 1944.
This is Le Mont Saint Michel, an amazing abbey built on a 80 metre granite rock in the south of Normandy.
Unfortunately it was not a very good day and we did not see it at it's best, but it was still a wonderful sight.
